Yes..u read that right. From the bench to the kitchen hahahha...working for one of the well known research university in the country, my days are hectic but flexible. As postdoc researcher we have one of the highest KPI in the university besides the Professor. But I am really ok with it. I was scared at first because we are contract base so if we fail to achieve the KPI, there's no way our contract will be renew. I guess I am pretty good with what I do as I stayed on for 4 years.
Now my KPI is my son. Hahhah...I want to be the one who take care of him and not others. I need to see him evolve in front of me. I want to be with him when he sleep and the one he see when he wakes up. I want to be the one who send him to school and pick him up. To be the one who prepare his meals and teaches him academically and non-academically. Teach him the values that he will need to be a successful and respectful man in the future. So my move to a new country is just because of him..for his future, for a better prospective for him.
So, do I miss the extremely demanding job? Extremely. Am I giving up my career for him? I would rather think that I am postponing it for the time being. I am grateful that I can still work remotely from here until I found my footing in the employment system here. I am hoping that I can finish my book while being 'free' now (yes..I am writing a book now) & get back to the academia when the right time & offer comes. I am not giving up but I am rerouting my journey for the one I love, but the goal is still the same. Giving up is not an option because hope and dream, will make us a stronger human.

Silent is Golden
Yes...it has been a while since I update anything here. Well, what can I say, life has been so busy lately ever since I came back from Denmark. Initially, the trip was just for a couple of month but something else come up, and I am still here in Malaysia. :)
What has happened since then? Well, let me see. I got pregnant (yes..u heard me right), few months later I got a new job and now...I have a son! It really was an interesting year for me & my other half especially with the arrival of the little man. Adjusting motherhood and a new and challenging career is tough but I am tougher! I believe everything happen for a reason even when it all happen all at the same time!
Been a while also that I update my baking activities but rest assure that it will start again real soon as I really miss baking and I am itching to do it. I just need to get in the groove and get use to my 'busy' schedule. There are already a lot of baking plan in my head so now..need to the time!! Hehehe...
Oppss...Karl need a diaper change. Got to go for now..I'll be back!!

2013 Finale
Tomorrow is new year eve so I guess this is the right time for everyone including me to recap and do a little bit of reflection on how this whole year has been. I believe it has been an exciting year for all of us although there might be some bump here & there.
It has been a bitter sweet year for me. A few milestone has been achieved and that indeed is a joyous occasion for me personally. One of the milestone is to finally received my PhD after been struggling with it for 3.5 years. Only God knows what shit I have to go through to get it. But ironically, the shit has nothing to do with the study/research but more to dealing with unstable human character, which unfortunately has a huge impact on the whole process. But I want to put that behind me now. Finally on 2nd of July, after 45 minutes of presentation, the university declared that I have fulfilled the requirements and I have passed! Halleluyah! The 3.5 years of research and hardship only took 45 minutes to wrap it all up & I reached my target of wanting to be Dr. Angelina before I am 35 years old.
Another achievement is that I finally get to go to Laos! I have been reading & watching documentary on Laos and I have been wanting to go there ever since. So, the day after I passed my exam, me & my buddy packed our bag & off we go..to Laos! It just feel so surreal when we finally landed in Vientiane. We been planning for one whole year for the trip and we gone through so many obstacles before we finally arrived. We were there for 5 nights (a long unplanned stay) and we enjoyed every single day of it. Vietiane is a small city but with an amazing characters. It is both work & pleasure for both of us & I always enjoy our trip together.
This year also marked a very important event with our new purchase..no need to mention here. But it is indeed an important one because that will be for our future and retirement plan in my beloved hometown, which my better half learn to love. Starting next month, there will be a slow yet moving progress plan for it. Well, we have to slowly and carefully plan the build up as it has to be as close to PERFECTION as possible.
Last but not least, this year also marked an important date, which is my migration to the land of the viking. We have been married for almost 7 years but this move will be the first time in all those years of marriage that we will live together under the same roof. It is a very daunting experience for me, having to start all over again at this age, in a new country. The place might not be a total foreign for me but coming here for vacation and having to live & work here, is two total different scenario. But I will persevere and take this as another challenge in my adult life and with my headhunter spirit & determination, I believe I will make it work here...probably I will make it BIG here...I guess we will never know yeah.
There you are, things that happen in 2013. I am so eager to see what 2014 will bring into my life especially, it will be the year of the HORSE. I am praying for continuing peace and harmony in my mother land, and probably a year full of good transformation for the nation. I am also praying for success coming my way this 2014, be it in my career or personal life. I am praying for strength, determination, strong will & perseverance to overcome challenges ahead for 2014.
Okie dokie..it's time for me to prepare the menu for tomorrow feast...

This time of the year again where I am getting wiser..heheh
Wow..how time fly eh..I am already 35 years old!! Hmm..how do I feel?? Frankly, nothing at all. I don't feel old nor young..just normal. It is just another day of the day for me. I come from a family who do not celebrate birthday so you don't actually get any special feeling on that day. I am just grateful that I am still breathing and enjoying life despite the disappointment that happen in my life.
I am also grateful that at this age I have that special someone that I can celebrate the day with. Someone who know me deeply, who accept me as who I am, understand me more than anyone else, who support me through the thick and thin, who love me unconditionally and who no doubt treat and care about me tremendously. Well, who else would do all that for me but my lovely hubby. Hehheh...I really thank God for him and the happiness he brings into my life.
I have lots to be thankful for...I am grateful for my family who no doubt has been there for me through all these years. Despite our differences in term of our ideas & opinions doesn't change the fact that there is nothing more important than family. I am also grateful for my loyal friends who been standing on my side and supported me when I needed someone to lean on. Am also grateful that I am wiser to know the different between true and fake friends. But most important of all, I am grateful that I am still alive and well.
Nothing much I would like to wish for but pray that God keep on guiding my way through life as I know, without HIM, I am nothing. I wish that He will keep reminding me to be grateful and appreciate what I have and going to have and allow me not to forget that all things come from HIM. I wish that I be a better person or at least trying to be a better person. Andd of course I pray that HE will provide me a good career in the future, a job that suit my personality and knowledge where I could excel. AMEN!

A new chapter in my life has begun..
So...finally I am here at the land of the viking..again. But this time it be different because I will be here for a very long time. Yes..I am moving from the hot and humid tropical weather to the cold and dry Scandinavian weather. After delaying the move for the past 6 years, I guess it is TIME.
How do I feel? Well, I will be lying if I said that I am not feeling sad leaving behind a country that I have call home for my whole life. I am not only leaving my home ground but also people that I care about and who care about me as well as leaving behind all the foods I love! But changes is unavoidable at some stage of our life and there is no point going against it. We should embrace it and welcome it into our life because only by having changes we can improve our own life. And that I will do! Wahaha...
I am feeling scare, uncertain, worry and doubtful about the move but I am confident that regardless what, I will be OK. As He has promise His children that He will be with US no matter where we are and regardless of our situation. Therefore, holding to this promise, I will use it as my guide. I will walk by FAITH and not by SIGHT. Nobody know how our future hold but with the grace of God, I believe we will make it to the end.
First thing first, I will submit my residency application to the municipality office before submit it to the immigration personnel and we will see how it goes from there. I do not wish to stress myself with something I cant control thus, "What will be, will be". Now if I got approval from them...it be a good new year gift for me. Hehhehe....
Then I will start searching for job. I do hope that I will find a job that I love, just like my previous job. I am extremely excited to start working again after 6 years of absent from the career world. It be a new field for me and I am excited to build a career using all the knowledge that I gain from my post-graduate studies. I do hope that I can use my knowledge to practice here and build a name for myself outside Malaysia.
OK. I will stop mumbling now because I need to get the firewood in. Huuhuh....it will start snowing anytime now..adious...

Moving on
After spending almost a month in Kuching, I finally bid farewell to my beloved hometown. Well..not that I wont be going back there again but it will be quite a while before I find the time to fly back to the land of the hornbill. You see..I have been delaying my 'departure' to the land of the viking for the past 6years due to my study. Having married to a Danes, I guess deep in my heart I know, I will have to settle down in the land of the viking sooner or later. Not that hubby doesn't want to live elsewhere but he also has some duty and responsibility to do back home as the only child. This I am well aware when I married him almost 7 years ago. And I even promised him that after I accomplished my dream, I will follow him. So...a promise is a promise regardless what right..
My time in Kuching were well spend with lots of meeting and catching up with my closest buddies. We have know each other since we were 13 years old in the boarding school. Reminiscing about the good old days and what the future hold for each of us truly make us grown closer to each other. Sharing our happiness and sadness with each other is nothing new for us. We were there for each other in our time of needs. Personally, I realized that as we grow older, our circle of friends are getting smaller and I am glad I have these bunch of buddies. It might not be much but these small quantity of friends, is the BEST I can ask for!
I didn't do much catching up with relatives back home ...well, we were never close anyway. What important for me is that I get to spend time with my own family..consist of my parent and brother. Did go and see my grandma but not that she know who I am anyway but I was just doing it for courtesy. Met some of the relatives during my Thanksgiving party at home and that was it. I guess that's enough no...hehehe...I also received bad new when I was in Kuching. My beloved dog, 'Gumok' has pass away due to explainable reason..(although we highly suspected he was being poisoned..).
I wish I can stay longer but I know I need to go. With a heavy heart I left last week but happily knowing that I will be back again next year (finger & leg cross...hhaha). Now I need to come back to KL and arrange some documentation and of course catching up with my KLian friends. Being alone in KL...these bunch of friends has truly keep me company thus bring color to my life here as a 'single married woman'..hahah..

End of one journey lead to a start of another journey..
Wow...it has been a very long time since I pay my visit here. You see, I am not an avid blogger but I will try my best to at least update this blog once a month!!!
Hmm..what's new?? Oh yes...I am officially Dr. Olesen!!! I have dreamt of this so called bitter sweet journey to end & finally 2weeks ago it has become a reality. My aim to have a PhD degree before I am 35 years old has come true. I am truly grateful of course to none other than my husband because of his endless support during this journey. Never once did he stop believing in me & for that I am very bless to have him as my true soulmate.

Finally I get to wear the round head aka hunter. As usual, the robe is big although it's an S size and it is heavy. I guess the heaviness is the same with the heavy burden that I need to carry along to complete this journey.
Receiving my scroll from Raja Nazrin...jangan jeles uols!
One for the group. Luckily one of my friend show up & help me to take this picture. Hehehe...cant wait to take the robe off because it was so damn hot! So, the journey has come to an end. I started with joy and I can happily said, I end it with joy. The in between..is belakang kira. Hahah...Now I am closing one chapter in my life and I will open another new chapter with new challenges. I am afraid, worry and anxious what the future will bring but I am very sure I will never walk alone...aiseh..heheh..

2012
The world suppose to end this year..hehehe..well, since I am writing this so I guess, the end of the world has not happen yet. Honestly, who on earth can predict such thing. Personally, for me..we will never know because when it happen, it will happen whether we are ready or not.
No vavavroom celebration for me this year as Kris is not with me. I was already back in Kuching the day before New Year Eve & he can't join me here. So, there are only me, my bro & Rita. We three use to live together in KL and actually this is the first time we actually celebrate new year together. Heheheh...So, there we are, sipping on our cheap champagne at my parent's place & waiting for the firework. And what a disappointment it was as it wasn't that much unlike the year before (according to my bro & Rita). The street is literally so quiet. We manage to change a glimpse of some firework from the other street.Huhuhuh...Luckily before I left to M'sia, Kris decided that both of us should have an early new year celebration so we bought some firework. That was fun!
Do I have new year resolution? Nope. Never had one before. All I want for this year is to finish what I have started 2 years ago & looking forward to settle down with Kris at our lovely home in Denmark, and raise a family of my own there. It will be great. I hope to enjoy and appreciate life this year & not be discourage and frustrated when things don't go my way. I would pray for another year of blessing & joy & happiness despite the obstacles that come my way for the year 2012!

Moving time...
Finally today, after almost 2 months of renovating, cleaning, burning, waiting, arranging, drilling and cleaning again, at last we moved into our own house. Still some work to be done but it is enough to make it a home again and good enough to be live in. The condition of the house is way better than it has been. All the hard work we put to make it a beautiful house with a welcoming feeling has been paid off finally. I am so relief that we finally living on our own. Today, we move out our last items from my in law's house which was great. We finally get the privacy that we always need when we come back here. Not that my in law is some kind of busy body but it's just great to be at your own place.
Tomorrow, I will want to bake the best chocolate cake ever to celebrate. I also miss baking and cooking at my own kitchen, so it'll be nice! When my family or friends coming over, at least they now have a place to stay over. There are a lot of plan that we want to do for our home here but that will have to wait for now. I hope it will come true for both of us & also, we can finally raise our children here, at our beautiful and blessed home.

Moving
We're moving again & this time to the land of the viking! Starting from this month, we will make Denmark our new home (well, not so new for hubby, but new for me). We been living (well, literally living for me) in China for the past 4 years and I guess, it is time to go 'home'. Such a huge change for me though I literally always spend my time here but this time, it be more permanent. Daunting and exciting change for me because this will be my home for the next 10 years (probably). I welcome the change as part of life but at the same time, wondering what would it be like to actually stay put here and what are in store for me here. I have dreaded for this moment to come although, personally this changes might be what my relationship need as we been living apart since we say the vow almost 5years ago. To finally live together in the same country and the same house is something hubby look very much forward to as I know he just can't live without me (ok..that maybe I exaggerate a bit just to make me feel important to him..ahhaha).
This month is all about renovating the farmhouse, which we rented out while we were away and as expected, the tenant couldn't care less to take care of it. But thank God that hubby does have the viking feature and scare the crap out of them so they did some damage control before we drag them to court. But there are stuff that still need to be repair, replace, renew, repaint etc. I personally love doing renovation and redecorating (just that I wish I have money like Donald Trump so budgeting won't be an issue)...sigh...Nevertheless, I still put my heart & soul in this house as it is our house and I want people to be mesmerized by it when they enter it. Then the glory will be mine..hahahah..
Ok.Now we need to of furniture hunting. Will be back soon. But first, I will want to continue with my current project of re-painting the dining wall. It was green when I saw it & it is such as excruciating sight! So, I decided to change the color to sandy brown and I just finish the double coating last night. Today I want to inspect where I need a third coating or not. Then apply the finish touch to it then I am done. See ya all..
